The City Government of Manila has launched mobile computer learning centers aimed at expanding access to digital education and strengthening technology skills among young learners.
Developed in partnership with JCI Manila, the initiative converts container vans into mobile classrooms that bring computer-based learning directly into communities with limited access to technology.
Each mobile unit is equipped with 11 computer sets—10 workstations for students and one for an instructor—allowing structured, hands-on training in basic digital literacy and productivity tools.
City officials said the program is designed to reduce the digital divide by reaching underserved areas and integrating technology education into community-level learning environments.
Beyond access, the initiative also aims to build foundational skills in computing, preparing students for increasingly digital academic and employment pathways.
The city government added that the project builds on its ongoing collaboration with JCI Manila, which previously supported community-based programs during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to assist in local development initiatives.
The mobile learning units are expected to operate across multiple districts in Manila, with deployment schedules aligned with community needs and school outreach programs.
