Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives arrested two individuals and confiscated an estimated P2.62 million worth of diesel in a law enforcement operation against alleged illegal trading of petroleum products in Boac, Marinduque.
The CIDG Marinduque Provincial Field Unit, together with local police units, conducted the operation on June 17 at around 12:38 pm in Barangay Amoingon, targeting the alleged unauthorized transport and distribution of fuel.
Authorities intercepted a tanker truck carrying approximately 8,000 liters of diesel, which investigators said was being delivered without the required authority from the Department of Energy (DOE).
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects identified only through aliases as “Mel,” 30 years old, the truck driver, and “Cris,” 28 years old, the truck helper, both residents of Tiaong, Quezon.
Police said the pair were caught while transporting petroleum products without proper licensing, in violation of Section 3(h) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended by Presidential Decree 1865, which regulates the sale, distribution, and trading of petroleum products.
CIDG officials stressed that the law is intended to prevent unregulated fuel trade and protect both consumers and the energy supply chain from illegal commercial practices.
The CIDG leadership commended the regional and provincial units involved in the operation, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities involving petroleum products nationwide.
Authorities urged the public to report similar incidents involving illegal fuel trading, including hoarding, profiteering, and unauthorized distribution, as part of broader enforcement efforts.
