The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division took part in the investiture ceremony of Sulu State University’s new president on Saturday, underscoring continuing collaboration between security forces and the academic sector in the province.
The ceremony, dubbed HIKMAT, marked the formal assumption of office of Prof. Charisma Ututalum at the Sultan Jamalul Kiram Gymnasium in Maimbung, Sulu.
Military officials led by Maj. Gen. Leonardo Peña joined university leaders, government representatives, and community stakeholders in the event, which signaled a new leadership phase for the state university.
In a message of support, the division commander reaffirmed the military’s backing for initiatives that strengthen access to quality education and contribute to long-term peace and development in Sulu.
Education, he said, remains central to building responsible communities and sustaining peace efforts in the region.
University officials described the investiture as a milestone that reflects the institution’s commitment to academic advancement, innovation, and inclusive growth for students in the province.
The event gathered officials from various sectors, highlighting coordinated efforts to strengthen education-driven development in the Bangsamoro region and surrounding areas.
Military participation in the ceremony also reinforced ongoing partnerships between the armed forces and academic institutions in support of community engagement and peacebuilding programs.
