PNP to Secure June 28 EDSA ‘White Ribbon Movement’ Rally

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy full security measures for the planned “White Ribbon Movement” rally at the EDSA People Power Monument on June 28 to ensure peace and order and safeguard participants and the general public.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. has directed the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and other concerned units to conduct a comprehensive security assessment in the EDSA area and nearby critical infrastructure ahead of the gathering.

The move follows the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), to maintain public safety while upholding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.

“While we respect the public’s right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, the Philippine National Police will remain apolitical and focused on maintaining public order and safety,” Nartatez said.

Organizers led by the Interreligious Leaders Council for National Transformation (IRCNT) are expected to gather at the EDSA People Power Monument to push electoral reforms, stronger government accountability, and action against corruption and political dynasties.

The PNP said it will implement maximum tolerance and human rights–based policing protocols, with field units instructed to ensure orderly crowd management and minimize disruption to traffic and nearby establishments.

“Our priority is to ensure the rally remains peaceful and that public order is maintained throughout the activity,” Nartatez added.
