PNP Advances Community Peace Efforts, Welcomes Commitment Of 10 Former SFO Members In Aklan

The Philippine National Police (PNP) sustained its peacebuilding and community engagement initiatives following a Local Peace Engagement activity held on June 19, 2026, at the Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO) Conference Hall inside Camp Pastor Martelino, Kalibo, Aklan.

The activity was highlighted by the oath of voluntary cooperation and the signing of a commitment by 10 individuals formerly associated with sectoral front organizations (SFOs). They formally expressed withdrawal from previous affiliations and reaffirmed their commitment to support peaceful, lawful, and community-based participation moving forward.

The initiative underscores the government’s continuing efforts to promote reconciliation, social inclusion, and long-term peacebuilding at the grassroots level.

The program was jointly facilitated by the Aklan PPO in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and partner government agencies, including the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), as well as local government units and provincial line agencies. Representatives from law enforcement and development stakeholders witnessed the activity, reflecting sustained inter-agency collaboration under a whole-of-nation framework for peace.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. welcomed the development, stressing that peacebuilding is most effective when communities and institutions work together.

“Ang kapayapaan ay hindi lamang tungkulin ng kapulisan, kundi ng buong komunidad. We continue to encourage open doors for those who choose a peaceful path forward, because tunay na seguridad ay nararamdaman kapag may tiwala at pagkakaisa,” he said.

The PNP reiterated its commitment to strengthening its presence in communities while ensuring that initiatives like this are carried out through dialogue, respect, and cooperation.

The agency said it remains guided by its reform and service-oriented direction under its commitment to deliver “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” reflecting a more responsive and community-focused police service.
