Two Vehicles Surrendered in Bulacan Recovered in Anti-Fraud Drive

Two motor vehicles that were voluntarily surrendered in separate incidents in Bulacan were recovered by the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) as part of its intensified campaign against carnapping and fraudulent vehicle transactions.

In the first case, a grayish-blue metallic Toyota Vios was surrendered after being flagged during an anti-carnapping operation along Quirino Street in San Jose del Monte City at around 5:15 pm. Authorities initially stopped the vehicle for lacking a visible plate number and for the driver’s failure to present registration documents.

Later that day, a female resident of Balagtas voluntarily turned over a Toyota Fortuner to authorities, citing its involvement in an alleged “assumed bawi” scheme, a transaction arrangement flagged by police as potentially fraudulent.

Both vehicles are now under the custody of the Bulacan Provincial Highway Patrol Team pending further investigation and legal disposition.

PNP-HPG Director Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan commended the cooperation of individuals involved in the voluntary surrender, stressing the importance of verifying the legitimacy of vehicle transactions to prevent fraud and disputes.

He warned that informal or undocumented vehicle deals remain vulnerable to scams and urged the public to coordinate with authorities when irregularities arise, noting that cooperation from stakeholders helps strengthen enforcement against motor vehicle-related crimes.
