PRO 8 Deepens Police–Muslim Community Ties in Tacloban Outreach Drive

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 8 strengthened its engagement with the Muslim community following an outreach program held in Nula-Tula, Tacloban City on June 11, 2026.

The initiative was conducted at the Masjid and Madrasah Al-Hidayah Al-Islamiyyah in Barangay 74, where police personnel distributed groceries and food packs to Muslim families. The assistance was aimed at helping address daily needs while reinforcing cooperation and mutual understanding between law enforcement and the community.

The activity formed part of the PNP’s continuing efforts to bring services closer to communities and build stronger public trust through direct engagement and social outreach programs.

Under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the organization continues to implement programs aligned with its Focused Agenda, particularly initiatives that enhance community-based policing and active community support.

“True service is felt when it is given with sincerity, compassion, and respect for all,” Nartatez said. “As one Filipino nation, regardless of faith, we share the same aspiration for a peaceful and safe country.”

He added that unity among Filipinos remains essential in achieving lasting peace and security.

The PNP said it will continue to pursue community engagement programs in support of the administration’s broader public service and peace and order agenda under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., promoting what it called a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” focused on faster, more responsive, and more felt public service.
