Officers and personnel of the Philippine Navy (PN) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) bound for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026 joined the commemoration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day in Guam on June 12, 2026.
The Philippine contingent, led by Capt. Ryan Bakabak PN(GSC) as Commander of Naval Task Group 84, took part in a flag-raising ceremony at the Guam Reef Hotel, alongside PCG personnel and members of the Filipino community.
Uniformed personnel from the two maritime services saluted the Philippine flag and joined overseas Filipinos in marking Independence Day, highlighting unity and national pride among Filipinos abroad.
A separate simultaneous flag-raising ceremony was also held aboard the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), where Navy personnel onboard observed the occasion as part of the national commemoration.
Officials said the participation underscores the Philippine Navy’s role in maritime security while honoring the sacrifices of Filipino heroes and reaffirming commitment to peace and sovereignty.
