A dismissed Bureau of Jail Management and Penology officer and his live-in partner were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City, police said.

The suspects, identified by police only through the aliases “Dupax,” 33, and “Cielo,” 46, were arrested Wednesday evening by operatives of the Batasan Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit.

Police Lt. Col. Gemmer Tubiera, commander of the Batasan Police Station, said the operation was carried out outside the suspects’ residence after they allegedly sold P1,500 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer.

After the transaction, police entered the residence and recovered additional illegal drugs.

Authorities seized around 55 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P374,000.

Tubiera said the male suspect had served in the BJMP for five years before he was dismissed in 2023 over his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

Police said the suspects were allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in the Quezon City areas of Batasan, Commonwealth, and Holy Spirit.

The suspects are under police custody and are expected to face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
