KC Concepcion is now the owner of one of Sharon Cuneta’s most treasured personal items — a Cartier Santos watch that has been with the Megastar since her teenage years.
Sharon revealed on Threads on June 8 that she gave the steel-and-gold timepiece to KC during her daughter’s recent visit. According to the iconic actress, it was the first expensive watch she bought for herself when she was 17 years old.
“When KC visited me recently, I gave her a very special gift. Notice the watch she is wearing in the picture. It is the very first expensive watch I bought for myself,” Sharon wrote.
In the photos shared by Sharon, KC was seen wearing the watch while posing with her mother.
Sharon also called the timepiece her “precious watch” and addressed KC by her nickname, Tina. “Now she is wearing my precious watch. I love you, Tina,” Sharon said.
The post also traced the watch back to Sharon’s early years as a movie star. Sharon uploaded a screenshot from the 1984 film Sa Hirap at Ginhawa, where the same watch could be seen on her wrist.
The movie was Sharon’s first film with Gabby Concepcion after they got married. Sharon also shared that KC was still in her womb when the film was made.
KC, whose full name is Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion, is Sharon’s daughter with Gabby. She later followed her parents into entertainment and became known as an actress, host, singer, and entrepreneur.
The Cartier Santos is one of the French luxury house’s signature watch designs. The model traces its roots to 1904, when Louis Cartier created a wristwatch for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.
Over the years, the Santos became known for its square case, visible screws, and two-tone steel-and-gold versions.
Pre-owned Cartier Santos watches are listed in the resale market for hundreds of thousands of pesos, depending on the model, condition, age, and specifications.
Sharon’s watch carries added significance because it links several chapters of her life: her teenage years, her early film career, her time with Gabby, and now her bond with KC.
More than four decades after Sharon first bought it, the Cartier watch has become a family heirloom passed from mother to daughter.
