The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM has deployed two disaster response teams to General Santos City and Sarangani Province to support government relief and response operations following the recent earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao.

In a statement, the NFEM said two Disaster Response and Rescue Teams were sent to the affected areas on June 9 as part of ongoing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response operations.

The deployment was composed of two officers and 22 enlisted personnel equipped with an M35 truck, an Isuzu Travis van and a closed van to help augment relief, rescue and response efforts.

The Navy said the teams were mobilized to assist local government units and other responding agencies in delivering humanitarian assistance, conducting disaster response operations and supporting communities affected by the earthquake.

The NFEM said the deployment reflects the Philippine Navy’s continuing commitment to support national disaster response efforts and provide immediate assistance to communities during emergencies and calamities.
