PNP Arrests 8, Recovers Stolen Vehicles After Tracking Robbery Victim’s Phone

Eight individuals were arrested while several stolen vehicles were recovered in a swift police operation in the National Capital Region that stemmed from a robbery involving a 20-year-old student on June 5.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the victim was robbed of his motorcycle and mobile phone in Marikina City in the early hours of June 5.

Using the stolen phone’s location-tracking feature, police traced one of the persons involved to Caloocan City. The recovery of the mobile device led to the immediate arrest of the individual and prompted a series of follow-up operations.

The coordinated police operations resulted in the recovery of seven motorcycles and two motor vehicles believed to be connected to the case.

Authorities also recovered two firearms, which are now undergoing verification as part of the continuing investigation.

The PNP said the accomplishment reflects its continuing efforts to strengthen crime prevention and response under its Focused Agenda, particularly through Enhanced Managing Police Operations.

It also supports the administration’s campaign under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to maintain safer communities through responsive and effective law enforcement.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their prompt response and effective coordination that led to the successful operation.

“Ang operasyong ito ay patunay na kapag mabilis ang pagresponde at maayos ang koordinasyon, mas nagiging epektibo ang ating pagtugon sa krimen. Nakita natin dito kung paano nakatulong ang teknolohiya at mahusay na imbestigasyon upang agad na maresolba ang insidente,” said PGen Nartatez.

He said the arrest of those allegedly involved and the recovery of stolen property show the PNP’s commitment to protecting the public and maintaining peace and order.

“Patuloy nating palalakasin ang ating mga operasyon at sisiguruhing nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan ang presensya ng pulisya sa kanilang komunidad. Ang kaligtasan ng mamamayan ang nananatiling pangunahing prayoridad ng inyong PNP,” he said.

The PNP said the investigation is continuing to determine possible links between the recovered vehicles and firearms and other incidents.

It added that it would sustain efforts to keep communities safe, in line with the vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
