The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) hosted representatives of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on Wednesday, June 3, as part of efforts to strengthen its academic standards, institutional systems and quality assurance practices.

The pre-applicant visit was led by Dr. Cary Michael Anderson, team chair, and Dr. Ryan Hartnett, MSCHE vice president for membership.

PMA said the engagement allowed the delegation to assess and better understand the academy’s mission, governance, academic programs, military training system, student services, financial operations and institutional management.

The delegation met with PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia, academy officials, faculty members, administrative personnel and cadets.

Defense Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio Madriaga, representing the Department of National Defense and the PMA Board of Visitors, also attended the activity. Capt. Vincent Castañeda of the AFP Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training also joined the visit.

PMA presented its history, academic programs, governance structure, faculty development initiatives, military training framework, strategic priorities and modernization efforts.

Valencia said the activity reflects PMA’s commitment to continuous improvement and institutional excellence.

“A world-class Armed Forces begins with a world-class Philippine Military Academy,” Valencia said.

PMA said the visit forms part of its broader push to align with globally recognized higher education quality standards while strengthening its role in developing competent, ethical and service-oriented leaders for the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
