The Philippine National Police (PNP) said its personnel showed compassion and quick response in separate incidents involving a senior citizen in Iloilo City and an injured police officer in Quezon City.
In Iloilo City, personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 and responders from the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 6 assisted a senior citizen who fell while walking along Zamora Street on the evening of May 29.
The elderly resident was given first aid at the scene before being safely brought to the West Visayas State University Medical Center for further examination and treatment.
In Quezon City, a police officer was injured while responding to an incident along Eulogio Rodriguez Avenue, under the Libis Flyover in Barangay Libis.
Authorities said the injured officer immediately received medical attention and remains under monitoring to ensure proper recovery.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the incidents showed that police service goes beyond law enforcement and includes protecting and caring for people in need.
“Every life matters. It is heartening to see our police officers immediately assist a senior citizen in need of help, while also ensuring the welfare of a fellow officer injured in the line of duty,” Nartatez said.
He said this kind of compassion and service should become part of the culture across the police organization.
“Behind every uniform are people ready to help and sacrifice for others. We will continue to strengthen service with heart, compassion, and genuine concern for the welfare of both the public and our police personnel,” he added.
The PNP said the incidents reflect its commitment to provide humane and timely public service while ensuring the welfare of personnel serving in the line of duty.
