PAL, Qantas Expand Miles Redemption Deal

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has expanded its frequent flyer partnership with Qantas Airways, giving members of both carriers’ loyalty programs more options to redeem points and miles across their respective networks.

Under the enhanced agreement, PAL Mabuhay Miles members and Qantas Frequent Flyer members may now use their rewards to book flights on either airline, opening access to more international, domestic, and leisure destinations.

Mabuhay Miles members can redeem miles for flights across Qantas’ network, including Australian destinations such as Adelaide, Hobart, Byron Bay, and Cairns.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members, meanwhile, can use their points to access PAL’s network in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, including destinations suited for multi-stop and island-hopping itineraries.

PAL said the expanded partnership strengthens the Mabuhay Miles program’s global redemption network. The Qantas alliance is the fourth airline collaboration under Mabuhay Miles, which also offers travel, retail, dining, and other lifestyle benefits.

“Loyalty partnerships are an important part of extending the reach of Mabuhay Miles and delivering more value to our members,” PAL president Richard Nuttall said.

“Through our partnership with Qantas, we are expanding access to destinations that complement our network, particularly across Australia, while giving members greater flexibility in how they use their miles,” he added.

Qantas Loyalty chief executive Andrew Glance said the partnership allows Australian travelers to explore more destinations in Asia through PAL’s network.

“Many of our members want their points to take them further than just the major hubs. Partnering with Philippine Airlines opens up more of Asia and adds 15 destinations previously missing from our partner network,” Glance said.

He cited Boracay and El Nido as examples of Philippine destinations that Qantas members can now access using points through Manila.

“Members can now build an entire island-hopping itinerary using points, connecting through Manila to some of the most remote and beautiful spots in Southeast Asia,” he said.

PAL currently operates several weekly flights between the Philippines and Australia, with services linking Manila to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane.

The flag carrier offers daily flights to Sydney and Brisbane, five weekly flights to Melbourne, and three weekly flights to Perth.
