Authorities recovered another body from the rubble of the collapsed condotel in Angeles City, Pampanga, raising the death toll from the tragedy to five.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Central Luzon said the male victim was found at around 6:18 pm Wednesday with the help of Summit, a Philippine Coast Guard  (PCG) K9 working dog.

“A body from the wreckage of the collapsed building in Angeles City was discovered at around 6:18 pm with the help of Coast Guard working dog Summit,” PCG spokesperson Commodore Noemi Cayabyab said.

Retrieval teams later worked to extricate the body from the debris and successfully recovered it on Thursday morning.

“As of 7:57 am May 28, 2026, the body of one male victim has been recovered, making it this incident’s 5th casualty,” BFP Central Luzon said in a social media post.

During the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing, BFP Central Luzon spokesperson Supt. Ma. Leah Sajili said the latest recovery reduced the number of missing victims to about 15.

“Right now, the number of confirmed fatalities is five. He was found yesterday and we extricated him earlier today,” Sajili said.

She added that 27 individuals have so far been rescued since the structure collapsed last Sunday.

Search, rescue, and retrieval operations continued Thursday as responders used backhoes, heavy equipment, and special tools to clear debris and create access points inside the collapsed structure.

Sajili said teams were carefully removing rubble to speed up the search for possible survivors and recover those still trapped in the building.
