63% of Filipinos Trust PNP, OCTA Survey Shows

Sixty-three percent of adult Filipinos said they trust the Philippine National Police (PNP), while 61 percent expressed satisfaction with the organization’s performance, according to a recent OCTA Research survey released this week.

PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. attributed the improved ratings to the dedication and hard work of police personnel nationwide, saying the results reflect the discipline, professionalism, and integrity demonstrated by officers on the ground.

Nartatez commended commanders and officers on the ground following the release of a recent OCTA Research survey showing that 63 percent of adult Filipinos expressed trust in the PNP, while 61 percent said they were satisfied with the police force’s performance during the first quarter of the year.

According to the PNP chief, the survey results reflect the discipline, professionalism, and integrity demonstrated by police officers in carrying out their duties.

“We are now seeing the results of our hard work and commitment to uphold our mandate to serve and protect the Filipino people,” Nartatez said.

He added that public trust remains one of the most important indicators of effective and reliable public service, noting that the organization continues to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening accountability and improving peace and order operations.

The OCTA survey was conducted from March 19 to 25 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above.

Survey results showed that respondents from Mindanao posted the highest trust and satisfaction ratings for the PNP, followed by those from the Visayas.

Nartatez said the police organization intends to sustain these gains by continuing reforms under the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) program, which he has implemented since assuming leadership of the PNP.

Part of the initiative includes closer monitoring of police performance and the replacement of underperforming chiefs of police and commanders.

The PNP chief also thanked the public for its continued support and assured Filipinos that the organization would intensify efforts to improve police services while strictly observing due process and the rule of law.

He added that the PNP would continue modernizing its capabilities to better respond to the evolving needs and security concerns of communities nationwide.

“We assure the public that we will continue striving to improve and prioritize their welfare. Modernization efforts will also continue so we can serve the people more effectively and professionally,” Nartatez said.
