A 20-year-old man facing multiple rape charges voluntarily surrendered to the Makati City Police early Thursday, June 4.
The Makati City Police said the suspect turned himself in at the Bangkal Sub-Station, where authorities served a warrant of arrest issued by Acting Presiding Judge Mary Jane Cajandab-Ong of the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 136.
The warrant covers four criminal cases for rape under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code. No bail was recommended.
Police said the surrender was facilitated by members of the Makati City Police Warrant and Subpoena Unit, led by Capt. Wilfredo Alvarez Jr., in coordination with personnel of the Bangkal Sub-Station headed by Officer-in-Charge Capt. Louisito Castañeda.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Makati City Police Chief Col. Pedro Alagano Jr.
Court records showed that the warrants were issued on May 14, 2026.
Authorities said two alternative recording devices were used during the service of the warrant, in compliance with Supreme Court rules on the use of body-worn cameras in the execution of warrants.
The suspect was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. Police said he opted to remain silent.
After the surrender, the suspect underwent medical examination and was placed under police custody while awaiting the return of the warrant to the issuing court.
Alagano commended the police personnel involved and stressed the importance of cooperation in bringing wanted persons before the court.
“We urge those facing charges to cooperate with the legal process and respect the rule of law. Voluntary surrender is an important step in ensuring that cases are resolved properly through due process,” Alagano said.
