The Philippine Army’s 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division has concluded a three-day Signal Family Conference in Jolo, Sulu, aimed at strengthening battlefield communications, cybersecurity awareness, and operational readiness among its signal personnel.

The conference, held at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista in Barangay Busbus, gathered signal personnel from the division and its subordinate units for lectures, technical discussions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Major General Leonardo I. Peña, commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Orion, presided over the closing ceremony for the Calendar Year 2026 activity.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Charles Dennis M. Suganob, Assistant Chief of Staff for Command and Control Communications and Cyber Systems, or OG6, the conference focused on improving the division’s communication systems, technical competencies, and cyber preparedness in support of military operations.

A key feature of the activity was the first Signal Olympics, where personnel tested their technical skills in communication-related tasks while promoting teamwork and coordination among units.

The 111th Division Reconnaissance Company was recognized as Fastest Runner, while the 32nd Infantry “Daredevil” Battalion won Fastest Radio Programmer.

The 100th Infantry “Kalasag” Battalion earned the award for Fastest Radio Message Transmission, while the 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Battalion was cited for Fastest Tactical Chat Transmission.

The 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade was named Best Brigade Signaler.

For its overall performance and sustained excellence in signal and communication operations, the 41st Infantry Battalion was also named Best Signaler of the Year and received a certificate of recognition and the championship trophy.

In his closing message, Peña stressed the critical role of signal personnel in military operations, saying effective communication remains essential to mission success.

“The effectiveness of our communication relies on the person behind it,” Peña said.

He urged signal personnel to continue improving their skills and maintain professionalism and technical excellence to ensure reliable communication systems in both administrative and tactical operations.

The 11th Infantry Division said the conference reinforced its commitment to developing competent, adaptive, and mission-ready signal personnel capable of supporting the operational requirements of the division and Joint Task Force Orion.
