Police Destroy P234M Marijuana Crop In Cordillera Weeklong Crackdown

The Philippine National Police (PNP) destroyed more than P234 million worth of marijuana plants in a weeklong series of anti-illegal drug operations in the Cordillera region.

In a report submitted to the PNP national headquarters, the Police Regional Office Cordillera said 11 marijuana eradication operations were conducted in Kalinga and Benguet from May 18 to 24, 2026.

The operations led to the destruction of 1,140,000 fully grown marijuana plants, with an estimated standard drug price of P234,210,800.

Police said the campaign was part of sustained efforts to dismantle marijuana cultivation sites in remote and mountainous areas, where illegal growers often attempt to avoid law enforcement monitoring.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for carrying out the operations despite the difficult terrain in the Cordillera.

“Hindi tayo titigil sa tuloy-tuloy na operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga. Ang mahalaga rito ay napipigilan natin ang pagkalat ng marijuana at napoprotektahan natin ang ating mga komunidad, lalo na ang kabataan,” Nartatez said.

“These sustained operations show our firm commitment to public safety and lawful police action,” he added.

The PNP said the eradication campaign forms part of its Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations and supports the government’s broader peace and order initiatives under the Marcos administration.

Authorities said anti-illegal drug operations nationwide will continue through intelligence-driven and community-backed efforts.
