The Philippine National Police (PNP) safely recovered and disposed of several unexploded explosive devices during separate operations in Rizal and Tarlac, preventing possible danger to nearby communities.
Police said the explosive materials — including old mortar rounds, grenade-type ordnance, corroded ammunition, and other hazardous remnants — were discovered following reports from residents and routine field inspections.
In Antipolo City, Rizal, members of the PNP Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and K9 unit recovered suspected wartime explosive devices in the Mt. Purro area in Barangay Calawis.
Authorities later conducted another render safe procedure in San Mateo, Rizal after a metallic object found in a timberland area was identified as a 4.2-inch high explosive mortar.
Meanwhile, EOD personnel in Capas, Tarlac carried out a controlled disposal operation at the Crow Valley Gunnery Range involving recovered unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war.
The PNP said all operations were completed safely under strict security protocols.
PNP chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. urged the public not to touch suspicious objects and immediately report them to authorities.
