PNP Arrests 73-Year-Old Passenger at NAIA Over 12-Year-Old Warrant

A 73-year-old Filipino passenger was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 after authorities discovered an outstanding arrest warrant issued in 2014.

The warrant stemmed from an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, with bail set at P24,000.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. noted that the incident highlights the vital coordination among law enforcement agencies in executing long-standing court orders.

“Kapag may lumabas na warrant, kailangan natin itong ma-verify at maipatupad nang maayos, regardless kung gaano na katagal ang kaso. What matters is that we follow the legal process and handle every person with fairness and professionalism,” Nartatez said.

The PNP stated that the operation aligns with its Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) under the PNP Focused Agenda, emphasizing inter-agency coordination and strict enforcement of court processes. The arrest also aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s mandate for a responsive, accountable government.

The passenger remains under CIDG custody for documentation and legal proceedings.
