The Philippine Army joined the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) Veterans Association, Inc. (PVAI) in commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Korean War through a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial Pylon in Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on June 25, 2026.
Army Internal Auditor Brig. Gen. Roderick Balbanero represented the Philippine Army during the ceremony, while Department of National Defense Undersecretary for Civil, Veteran, and Reserve Affairs Pablo Lorenzo served as guest of honor and speaker.
Veterans and representatives from PEFTOK also attended the event, paying tribute to Filipino soldiers who served in the Korean War during the 1950s and recognizing their contributions to the defense of South Korea.
The ceremony highlighted the shared history between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea and honored the sacrifices of Filipino troops who were among the first to respond to the United Nations’ call during the conflict.
The Philippine Army said it continues to uphold the legacy of PEFTOK veterans, emphasizing the importance of their service in shaping military traditions and strengthening international partnerships.
