OCTA: 74 Percent of Filipinos Back Senate Trial for Duterte

Nearly three in four Filipinos, or 74 percent, said  Vice President Sara Duterte should face the Senate impeachment trial to address the allegations against her, the April 20 to 24 survey of Octa Research that was released on Monday showed.

The survey, which involved 1,200 adult respondents nationwide and had a ±3 percent margin of error, showed an increase in public support for the impeachment trial by 5 percentage points from 68 percent in March.

The results also showed that 21 percent do not believe that the Vice President should face the Senate impeachment trial, while 4 percent are still undecided.

OCTA Research said the results reflect the public support for allowing the constitutional

impeachment process to proceed.

It added that the results do not and should not be read as a judgment on guilt,

conviction, or removal from office.
