Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) traveling through Zamboanga International Airport now have a dedicated space for rest and assistance following the opening of a new OFW Lounge by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
The newly inaugurated facility was designed to provide comfort and essential services for migrant workers arriving in or departing from the region.
The lounge features air-conditioned seating areas, charging stations, television access, and complimentary snacks, coffee, and drinking water to make travel more convenient for OFWs.
Aside from serving as a waiting area, the facility also functions as a support center where workers can access information on programs offered by the Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Travelers may also process important documents such as Overseas Employment Certificates and OFW Passes at the lounge.
The facility can accommodate up to 20 people at a time and forms part of broader efforts to make airports more responsive to the needs of OFWs.
CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said the initiative aims to ensure that OFWs feel welcomed, supported, and valued throughout their travel experience.
The project is aligned with the administration’s push to improve passenger services and provide more traveler-centered facilities in airports nationwide under the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
