The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) has placed its disaster response teams on heightened alert following the strong earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao on June 8.
NFEM immediately activated Battle Staff Bravo and put its Disaster Response and Rescue Team (DRRT) on standby for possible emergency response and humanitarian assistance operations in affected areas.
Two disaster response and rescue teams conducted muster and readiness checks to confirm their capability for immediate deployment if needed. Mobility assets and equipment were also prepared for possible dispatch in support of emergency operations.
The quake, which was felt across several areas in Mindanao, prompted authorities to carry out rapid assessments and preparedness measures amid aftershocks and tsunami warnings in coastal communities.
NFEM said it remains ready to support disaster response efforts and assist communities affected by natural disasters.
