MMDA Clears Two Truckloads of Waste from Las Piñas Creek

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has cleared two truckloads of mixed waste from Pasong Baca Creek in Las Piñas City as part of continuing efforts to reduce flooding in Metro Manila.

The cleanup operation was conducted along Marcos Alvarez Road in Barangay Talon Singko, where MMDA Flood Control personnel removed garbage and other debris that had accumulated in the waterway.

The agency deployed two dump trucks and cleaning equipment to collect and properly dispose of the waste, which had been obstructing portions of the creek.

According to the MMDA, clearing creeks and canals is critical to improving water flow, particularly during heavy rains when blocked waterways can quickly worsen flooding in nearby communities.

The agency said improperly discarded garbage remains one of the major causes of clogged waterways across Metro Manila, making regular cleanup operations and public cooperation essential to flood prevention.

The MMDA also appealed to residents to practice proper waste disposal and help keep creeks, canals, and drainage systems free from trash.

Officials said maintaining clean waterways is necessary not only for flood control, but also for building safer and more resilient communities across the capital region.
