Marcos Inspects Cebu Infra Projects, Pledges Continued Funding Through 2027

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inspected major infrastructure projects in Cebu on Monday, including the rehabilitation of the Metro Cebu Expressway (MCE) and flood-control works along the Mananga River, as the government pledged continued funding support through 2027.

From Bohol, the President proceeded to Naga City where he reviewed the 4.55-kilometer Segment 3A of the MCE, a key road project expected to improve mobility and reduce travel time within southern Cebu once completed.

The Presidential Communications Office said the works include slope stabilization, drainage improvements, and creek rehabilitation aimed at strengthening the expressway’s resilience against landslides and extreme weather events.

Once completed, travel from Barangay Pangdan to the Naga Valley Industrial Park is expected to be significantly shortened, easing the movement of workers, goods, and services in the area.

The President also inspected ongoing rehabilitation efforts along the Mananga River in Talisay City, a flood-prone area that has previously experienced severe inundation during typhoons and heavy rains.

He noted that past flooding incidents along the river underscored the need for stronger mitigation measures, prompting the government to accelerate upgrades to flood-control systems and drainage infrastructure.

Marcos assured that funding for the rehabilitation program will continue, with allocations expected to be included in the 2027 National Expenditure Program.

He added that new drainage systems have been installed and relocation efforts are ongoing in designated “no build zones” to reduce risk exposure for vulnerable communities.

“So, patuloy lang ang ginagawa natin para hindi na maulit ‘yung napakalaking perwisyo ng pagdaan ng bagyo, ng ilog, at saka nung pagdaan nung baha dito,” the President said.

The Chief Executive was accompanied by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon during the inspection.
