The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Tuesday, February 10 has issued a show cause order against a bus company after one of its drivers was seen in a video making what authorities described as a dangerous maneuver against a delivery truck along an expressway.

LTFRB Chairperson Vigor D. Mendoza II said he personally viewed the video, which was uploaded on social media and later flagged by the agency’s monitoring team. He described the driver’s behavior as unacceptable, citing footage that showed the bus traveling very close to the truck.

“I saw the video and there is clearly a violation on the part of the bus driver. We are now investigating to determine if the bus was carrying passengers at the time of the incident,” Mendoza said.

According to the LTFRB, the video shows a passenger bus making a risky move against the truck on what appears to be an expressway. The truck driver did not retaliate, and the bus was later seen speeding away.

The agency said the footage was used as the basis to identify the registered owner of the bus. A show cause order was subsequently issued against Victory Liner Inc., directing the company to identify and present the driver involved at a hearing set on February 25.

Mendoza said both the company and the driver were required to submit written explanations on why they should not be held liable for the incident. He added that the investigation will follow due process, giving the driver the opportunity to explain his side.

The LTFRB chief also urged bus operators to ensure discipline within their ranks, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and other road users is at risk in cases involving reckless driving and possible road rage.
