The House of Representatives is preparing copies of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte for formal submission to the Senate, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil said.
Garafil said the documents, including thousands of pages of attachments, are now being reproduced, collated, and reviewed to ensure that all copies are complete, properly arranged, and faithful to the version approved by the House.
“The accuracy of our submission is our paramount concern,” Garafil said.
She issued the update following the House vote on Monday impeaching Duterte and approving the Committee on Justice report that endorsed the transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate for trial.
The impeachment was approved by 257 lawmakers, far exceeding the constitutional requirement of at least one-third of all House members, or 106 votes, needed to impeach a public official.
The case marks the second impeachment complaint filed against Duterte.
