The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will conduct a special payout from May 11 to 15 in Metro Manila for Grab transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers and Move It motorcycle taxi drivers who have yet to receive the government’s P5,000 cash assistance.
DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency has been coordinating with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and participating transport network companies (TNCs) to validate the list of beneficiaries and ensure the orderly distribution of aid.
Under the arrangement reached during earlier coordination meetings, the DSWD will act as the paymaster, while the participating TNCs will provide logistical support, including scheduling and venue management for beneficiaries.
Special payout activities for Grab and Move It drivers will be held from May 11 to 15 at the Araneta Coliseum, SM Aura, and FilOil venues.
Dumlao said schedules for other TNVS drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and service delivery riders who are also qualified for assistance will be announced separately.
She urged beneficiaries to strictly follow their assigned schedules and proceed only to their designated payout sites on the specified dates.
Drivers were likewise reminded to bring their original driver’s license along with a photocopy when claiming the assistance.
“Kung wala pa sa listahan o wala pang assigned schedule at venue, hinihikayat namin ang mga benepisyaryo na hintayin lamang ang official announcements at schedule mula sa inyong kumpanya at huwag munang pumunta sa payout sites upang maiwasan ang kalituhan,” Dumlao said.
The cash assistance is being released through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program as part of the government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) initiative aimed at helping transport workers affected by rising fuel prices.
The DSWD said more than P5.56 million had already been distributed in April to assist over 1.1 million public utility vehicle drivers nationwide.
