The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is continuing its investigation into three flagged flood control projects in Taguig City after system records showed their geotagged coordinates pointing to locations in Leyte.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon clarified that one of the disputed contracts was awarded in 2022 to St. Timothy Construction, a firm linked to the Discaya family.
Dizon issued the statement to clarify his position following questioning from Senator Panfilo Lacson regarding an earlier statement in which Dizon indicated that no ghost projects had been confirmed in Taguig City.
The DPWH chief explained that his previous remarks referenced 10 nationwide ghost projects already confirmed by investigators, which did not include the ongoing inquiries into the Taguig infrastructure sites.
According to Dizon, preliminary documentation regarding the three Taguig projects has already been forwarded to the Office of the Ombudsman. However, he emphasized that government auditors and technical teams must still complete a comprehensive document review and conduct physical, on-site inspections to verify whether the infrastructure was actually constructed.
Dizon assured the public that the DPWH anti-corruption campaign remains broad in scope, stressing that all formal complaints and reports of anomalous public works will undergo rigorous review regardless of geographic location or political figures involved.
