Photographers may now use professional cameras for personal and souvenir photography in Intramuros, Manila, without securing a permit, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced Sunday.
The initiative, implemented through a partnership between the Intramuros Administration and CameraHaus, aims to make heritage photography more accessible and encourage photographers to tell the story of the historic Walled City through their images.
However, the DOT reminded photographers to observe site regulations, including restrictions on flash photography in certain areas, to protect historic structures and museum collections.
To promote photography in Intramuros, the inaugural Street Summit gathered more than 300 photographers, content creators, and visual artists for a community photowalk on Saturday.
With the theme “Intramuros Reframed,” the event encouraged participants to explore the Walled City from fresh perspectives and capture its lesser-known corners.
