DOE Eyes More Saudi Energy Investments

The Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking to expand the Philippines’ energy cooperation with Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to draw more investments and accelerate the country’s shift toward a cleaner and more secure power future.

DOE Undersecretary Alessandro Sales met with representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ACWA Power to discuss continuing initiatives under the Philippines–Saudi Arabia Memorandum of Understanding on Energy.

The meeting reviewed the progress of cooperation in several priority areas, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, oil and petrochemicals, artificial intelligence, and electricity.

Officials also discussed ways to strengthen technical collaboration and encourage investments in strategic energy projects in the Philippines, particularly in renewable energy and energy storage.

The DOE said the engagement builds on the strong partnership developed through the 2024 Philippine Energy Mission, which opened more opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

The department said the initiative forms part of its broader push to deepen international partnerships, attract foreign investments, and support the Philippines’ transition to a secure, resilient, and sustainable energy future.
