The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Wednesday installed Col. Roy L. Onggao as its new chief chaplain while honoring Brig. Gen. Daniel B. Tansip upon his retirement after nearly three decades of military service.
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. led the change of office and retirement ceremony for the Chief Chaplain Service on July 15.
Brawner recognized Tansip’s long service to the military, including assignments in critical and strategically important areas.
Onggao previously served as Army chief chaplain and chairman of the Army Board of Senior Chaplains.
The AFP said his appointment would ensure continuity in the Chaplain Service’s mission to strengthen the spiritual well-being, moral character and overall welfare of military personnel.
“Leadership may change, but the mission remains. Continue to serve with compassion, integrity, and faith,” Brawner said.
“Always remember that your work helps our personnel remain strong—not only in body, but also in mind, character, and spirit,” he added.
