Palace: Low Marcos Rating a Push to Do More

Malacañang said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will use his latest drop in public satisfaction rating as a push to work harder and expand government assistance to Filipinos.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro acknowledged on Wednesday the latest Social Weather Stations survey showing Marcos’ net satisfaction rating falling to “poor” -15 in the first quarter of the year, down from “neutral” -3 in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Speaking during a briefing in Japan, Castro said some survey respondents may not yet have felt the impact of the administration’s ongoing programs.

“We believe that many of our countrymen feel what the government is doing. Perhaps those interviewed were people who have not yet received or felt government assistance,” Castro said in Filipino.

She said the survey figures would help the administration identify areas where it needs to improve.

“These numbers will help the President do even better. We know the President is giving his all in his work, but this will help him further improve in serving and assisting our people,” Castro said.

Castro also pointed to other surveys that showed higher public satisfaction with Marcos’ performance, including polls where he reportedly ranked as the highest-approved official in the country.

The SWS survey, conducted from March 24 to 31, showed 33 percent of Filipinos satisfied with Marcos’ performance, down from 40 percent in the previous quarter.

Those dissatisfied rose to 49 percent from 43 percent, while those undecided slightly increased to 18 percent from 17 percent.

The results produced a net satisfaction rating of -15, computed by subtracting dissatisfaction from satisfaction, which SWS classified as “poor.”
