The Philippine Navy welcomed the commanding officer of the British Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Spey during a courtesy visit at the Navy headquarters in Manila, reaffirming growing maritime cooperation between the two countries.
Commander Dan Briscoe of the United Kingdom’s HMS Spey (P234) paid a courtesy call on May 6 at Naval Station Jose Andrada, where he was received by Captain Laurence Calimag, deputy commander of the Philippine Fleet’s Littoral Combat Force, on behalf of Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta.
During the meeting, officials from both navies discussed areas of mutual interest and explored opportunities for future engagements and cooperation.
The Philippine Navy said the visit highlighted the continuing commitment of Manila and London to strengthen bilateral defense relations and enhance maritime security cooperation in the region.
The engagement comes amid increasing collaboration between allied and partner navies in promoting stability, interoperability, and security in the Indo-Pacific.
