President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the wake of former Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) chairman Dante Ang, honoring his contributions to public service and media.
Marcos extended condolences to the Ang family during his visit to the wake held at Manila Memorial Park, where he was received by Ang’s son, Dante Francis Ang II, the current CFO chairperson.
The family announced the elder Ang’s passing on May 5.
Ang previously served as chairman of the CFO and later took on the role of special envoy for international public relations during the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte. He also headed the CFO under former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Beyond government service, Ang was known in the media industry as chairman emeritus of The Manila Times, where he played a key role in shaping the publication’s direction over the years.
His passing was met with tributes from various sectors recognizing his influence in both public service and journalism.
