Only minor damages were reported following the magnitude 6.0 earthquake that struck Eastern Samar, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Tuesday.
According to OCD Region 8 director Joel Erestain, most of the reported damage involved pre-existing cracks in houses and buildings that slightly widened, particularly in several barangays across the province, including San Julian.
“May mga dati nang cracks na medyo lumaki daw po ng konti… hindi naman life-threatening or matatawag na totally damaged,” Erestain said during a public briefing, noting that the structural issues were not considered dangerous or severe.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, but no major structural damage or casualties have been reported so far, indicating limited impact from the tremor in affected communities.
