The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a low-pressure area located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression.

As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, PAGASA reported that the weather disturbance was spotted about 1,405 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.

The state weather bureau said it continues to monitor the system, although current assessments indicate that it is unlikely to intensify into a tropical cyclone.

Meanwhile, several parts of the country are expected to experience rains due to the combined effects of the easterlies and the northeast monsoon, locally known as the amihan.

PAGASA said Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Occidental Mindoro, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains brought by the amihan.

Cloudy skies with light rains are also expected in Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The northeast monsoon may also bring cloudy skies with rain to parts of Cagayan Valley, including Apayao, Kalinga, and Aurora.

Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to bring rains to other parts of the country, including Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands.

PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible localized flooding or landslides during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.
