All ranking officials of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) have submitted their courtesy resignations to give Acting Communications Secretary Lino Cayetano a free hand to decide who to retain, replace, or appoint in any position in the agency.
Speaking with members of the Malacañang Press Corps on Friday, Cayetano said he had already received the courtesy resignations of the officials and decided that PCO Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro will stay in her position.
He said he is also looking forward to working with and learning from Castro.
“Usec Claire is a treasure in this government. I haven’t seen someone who can articulate what this government is doing. I think we’ll work closely together so we can help translate a lot of the issues, a lot of the programs, a lot of the policies of this government,” Cayetano said.
“I need Usec. Claire to translate that sa mga kababayan natin. Usec Claire is a treasure and I’m excited to continue working with her,” Cayetano added.
Cayetano said Castro will also play a big part in the communications team, expecting her to continue going around and speaking in universities, barangays, and public forums to explain government programs and policies.
