AMLC Flags Three China-Linked Transactions to Duterte-Linked Firm as Suspicious

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has flagged three inward foreign financial transfers totaling P319.3 million to Cale88 Foods Corporation as suspicious due to a lack of underlying legal, commercial, or trade justifications.

Testifying before the impeachment tribunal, AMLC Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura confirmed that official financial intelligence reports identified incoming remittance flows originating from mainland China and Hong Kong, which were credited directly to corporate accounts held by the firm. The disclosure forms part of broader documentary evidence being presented during ongoing court proceedings.

Corporate registry records confirm that Cale88 Foods Corporation is partly owned by attorney Manases Carpio, the spouse of Vice President Sara Duterte. The financial intelligence chief presented authenticated bank ledgers and covered transaction summaries detailing the timing, volume, and movement of the flagged funds.

“Ang naka-indicate po sa aming tabular summary ay ₱319,326,770.41,” Buenaventura said.

He also said these flagged transactions represent a key segment of broader banking records submitted to the trial record under official judicial subpoenas.

“Lahat po ng ito ay nakatala batay sa mga pumasok na covered transaction reports at suspicious transaction reports mula sa mga bangko,” he added.

House prosecutors asserted that the verified financial intelligence disclosures serve as direct documentary evidence regarding contested foreign financial movements. The tribunal confirmed that sensitive banking data will remain subject to standard evidentiary rules as trial proceedings continue.
