The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has blocked access to at least three websites for promoting violent content, acting on a request from the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co confirmed the development, noting that regulatory officials moved quickly following formal inter-agency outreach.
“We have already coordinated with the NTC for the blocking of certain websites espousing real world violence and the response was positive,” Co stated.
Law enforcement authorities opted not to disclose the specific addresses or names of the affected domains.
“It will be counter-productive for us to identify these websites. Suffice it to say, these websites espouse real world violence,” Co explained.
When pressed on whether the targeted domains were connected to recent violent incidents at academic institutions, Co acknowledged the possibility, replying simply, “it could be.”
