PNP Arrests Suspect in 2025 Kidnapping of Army Officer in Lanao del Norte

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Kidnapping Group arrested a suspect on August 7, 2026, in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte, for the September 14, 2025 kidnapping of an Army officer.

The joint operation, backed by multiple police, intelligence, and military units, nabbed the suspect on the strength of a warrant for Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 in Iligan City, with no bail recommended.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that authorities will relentlessly pursue fugitives regardless of time.

“The law does not waver with the passage of time. When a person is wanted for a serious crime, hiding cannot be a permanent escape, eventually, that person will have to face the law,” Nartatez said.

“Malinaw ang ating paninindigan laban sa kidnapping. Hindi natin hahayaang manaig ang dahas at pananakot sa ating mga komunidad; dapat laging manaig ang batas,” he added.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the AKG MFU-Iligan Satellite Office pending a commitment order.
