Two Caloocan Cops Arrested for Allegedly Selling Loose Firearms

Two Caloocan City police officers were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly selling loose firearms during a targeted buy-bust operation.

The suspects, holding the ranks of master sergeant and staff sergeant, were both active members of the Caloocan City Police Station. A report from the National Capital Region Police Office said operatives staged the operation at around 6 a.m. at the Riles Compound in one of the barangays in Caloocan.

Authorities recovered two PNP-issued 9 mm pistols, a .38-caliber revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, assorted ammunition, buy-bust money, two mobile phones and two motorcycles from the scene.

“The suspects were informed of the cause of their arrest and their constitutional rights,” the police report said.

Both officers and the confiscated evidence were turned over to the Caloocan City Police Station “for documentation and proper disposition.”

The suspects face criminal charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, along with administrative charges that could lead to their dismissal from the service.
