The Philippine National Police (PNP) safely recovered an unexploded ordnance found inside a junk shop in Davao City, averting a potential public safety threat through the prompt response of the PNP Explosive Ordnance Disposal and K9 Group (PNP-EOD/K9).

The explosive item was discovered among assorted scrap metals purchased by the establishment from an unidentified seller.

After receiving the report, an Explosive Incident Response Team immediately inspected the object and confirmed that it was a 105mm high-explosive projectile without a fuze.

Despite showing signs of age and corrosion, the ordnance was treated as a potential hazard and handled in accordance with established safety procedures.

The projectile was secured and transported to the custody of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group for proper disposition under standard Explosive Ordnance Disposal protocols.

Responding personnel also held safety awareness discussions with junk shop workers, warning them about the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance and reminding them to immediately alert authorities upon discovering suspicious explosive materials.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the responding personnel and likewise advised junk shop operators, scrap collectors and the public to exercise caution when encountering unfamiliar objects that may contain explosives and to coordinate immediately with authorities for proper assessment and handling.
