Trash collected outside Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding venue has been turned into $25 collectibles, with buyers snapping up cubes containing cigarette butts, bottle caps, straws and other street litter.
New York artist Justin Gignac gathered the discarded items from the streets surrounding Madison Square Garden after the couple’s July 3 wedding, according to CBS New York.
Wearing a tuxedo and carrying a litter picker, Gignac walked around the arena’s perimeter and collected debris left near the venue.
“I went around the perimeter. I found a Ring Pop. I found that left AirPod, and I also found an ovulation test kit,” he told CBS.
The collection reportedly included cigarette butts, water bottle caps, plastic utensils, straws, pieces of police caution tape and candy wrappers.
Gignac divided the items among transparent cubes and marketed them as “NYC Pocket Garbage: Not Invited Edition,” a novelty souvenir tied to the high-profile wedding.
Each cube was sold for $25, with additional shipping fees in some markets. Reports said the limited collection sold out or nearly sold out shortly after it was released.
The items were promoted as hand-picked garbage from outside Madison Square Garden rather than objects taken from inside the wedding or used by Swift, Kelce or their guests.
There is also no evidence linking specific pieces of litter directly to the couple or any celebrity who attended the event.
Gignac has been turning New York City trash into artwork and souvenirs for years, including debris collected after sporting events and championship parades. His latest release capitalized on intense public interest surrounding Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
The unusual collectibles illustrate how objects with little or no conventional value can become desirable memorabilia when attached—even indirectly—to major celebrities and cultural events.
Swift and Kelce were married at Madison Square Garden on July 3, drawing extensive media coverage and crowds outside the New York venue.
