Two brothers were arrested after police seized four alleged unlicensed firearms during the simultaneous implementation of search warrants in La Paz, Tarlac on June 29.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said its Tarlac Provincial Field Unit, together with the PNP Special Action Force, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3, Police Regional Office 3, and local police, served two search warrants in Barangay Motrico from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The operation was carried out for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
According to a report received by CIDG Director Police Major General Robert Morico II, authorities recovered a caliber .45 pistol, assorted magazines, and ammunition from the residence of a suspect identified only as “Ron.”
Police said Ron failed to present a License to Own and Possess Firearms.
In a nearby residence, authorities also seized a caliber 5.56 rifle, a caliber .40 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, magazines, and ammunition from Ron’s brother, identified only as “Alpi.”
Alpi was arrested after allegedly failing to present documents authorizing him to possess the firearms.
CIDG said the operation resulted in the arrest of the two suspects and the confiscation of four firearms, including one rifle, two pistols, and one shotgun.
The CIDG leadership commended the CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 under Police Colonel Grant Gollod and the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Arvin Hosmillo for the operation.
The agency said the seizure forms part of its continuing campaign against loose firearms, which authorities said are often used in crimes and acts of violence.
