The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), conducted a five-day Instructor Candidate Course on criminal investigation in Taguig City.
The training, held from June 22 to 26, 2026, was facilitated by instructors from the Japan Coast Guard led by Commander Takanori Akagi.
The course aimed to strengthen the investigation skills of PCG personnel, particularly in crime scene investigation, fingerprint collection, DSLR camera operation, and the preparation and presentation of crime scene investigation reports.
Participants underwent classroom instruction and practical exercises designed to enhance their competence in handling investigation-related tasks.
The PCG said the training forms part of continuing efforts to improve maritime law enforcement capabilities and develop mission-ready personnel through international cooperation.
It also underscored the strong partnership among the PCG, JICA, and the Japan Coast Guard in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen cooperation with international partners.
