The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order against the son of a Marikina vice mayor following a road crash in Marikina City that left a motorcycle rider dead.
In the same order, the LTO suspended for 90 days the driver’s license of the suspect, whose name was not disclosed by the agency.
The registered owner of the SUV involved in the crash was also ordered to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division on July 8, 2026.
The owner was further directed to submit a sworn explanation on why he should not be held liable under the law on driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotic drugs. The order came after an Alcohol Breath Analyzer test showed the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.410 percent, indicating he was positive for alcohol.
“Wala tayong sinisino. Ang sinumang lumalabag sa batas ay mananagot, anuman ang kanyang katayuan sa buhay o koneksyon. Hindi natin hahayaang may buhay na kapalit ang kawalang-disiplina sa kalsada,” LTO Assistant Secretary Lacanilao said.
The incident involved 27-year-old senior high school teacher Alexander Quintos Cruz, who died after his motorcycle was hit by an SUV allegedly driven by 24-year-old David Alfre Gonzaga de Guzman at an intersection in Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City, on June 13.
